It all started on Monday 8th October, 2018 when the Press Council removed a banner pasted on the editorial ground reason being that the source of the banner did not follow the normal protocol which is to get the Press Council informed before pasting the banner.
This caused an uproar between the pressmen and the Student Representative Council. Meanwhile, it was crystal clear that the banner was pasted by the SUG Social Director(Mc Package) as it contained the Student Union activities for the week,
However, on Thursday, 11th of October, 2018. The speaker of the Student Representative Council Com. Olumide Bakare Lukman who is representing SLT in his reaction to the removal of the banner by the Press led his fellow comrades(in a white Student Union Bus) by early afternoon to the editorial ground to remove all the four press boards without the approval of the Students Union Executives.
Upon hearing this,the pressmen swung into action by informing the right quarters about the dastard act perpetrated by the so-called SRC members.
The matter got to the Acting Dean SAO, while he was responding to the issue urged the two sides to communicate any grievances to the appropriate quarters, and not to take laws into their hands, he implored them to foster peace and unity on campus, and to also see themselves as partner in progress, he therefore urged the lawmakers to return the boards to the editorial ground for proper erection.
But as at the time of filling this report, the distinguished honourables have not done the needful which is to return the boards to the editorial ground.
The Press Council hereby call on the SRC members to return the boards so that pending articles would be pasted as soon as possible because exam is fast approaching.
